Crowding is the most common orthodontal problem. It’s a result of not having enough space in your mouth for your teeth. Look and see if some or many of your teeth are overlapping.

When your front teeth excessively overlap on your bottom teeth, you have an overbite. There are many risks involved with an overbite such as gum recession and tooth trauma because your front teeth are more vulnerable in this position.
An underbite is the opposite of an overbite. Although it’s less common, this is when the bottom teeth overlap the top teeth in the front of your mouth. It’s likely caused by an irregular jaw size and can lead to uncomfortable chewing. If you’ve been having trouble eating, look at the way your teeth naturally sit when you close your mouth to see if you have an underbite.
A crossbite is when some of your teeth overlap, but not all of them. Your teeth can be worn down by the constant grating of this abnormal bite. And if you wait too long to correct it with orthodontic braces, you may find that the damage is too far gone to repair your teeth, and you’ll need to go through extensive dental surgery.
When you bite down, do all of your teeth touch? If not, you probably have an openbite. This tooth positioning makes talking and eating very difficult and can cause lower self-esteem.

Your mouth has to do a lot of extra work to make the sounds necessary for speech in order to get around teeth in the wrong place. You’ll likely find it a lot easier and less tiring to talk for long periods of time once your teeth are straight.
Fatigue From Chewing
Similarly, if you need braces, you may feel tired after chewing. Again, your teeth have a lot of extra work to do in order to chew properly. In some cases, your teeth could be so crooked that chewing is painful. If you find yourself opting for softer foods to avoid discomfort while eating, it’s time to consider whether you need braces.
